I'd also think you are adding to disk latency by having two raid layers (hardware and software), which you wont have in freenas.ģ) Check the SMB versions in DSM and try file transfer with different minimum/maximum versionsĤ) Disable file protocols that you dont need, in DSMĥ) Disable raid card caching if there is oneĦ) Check Resource Manager and see whats happening to the raid/volume/disk performance and network traffic during a transfer.
1) Can you post some information on the network adapter and raid card brands - there are some devices that have better drivers/modules in forum members enhanced ramdisksĢ) You may be better to set the raid card to jbod/IT mode and allow DSM to manage the raid - that gives you better options if the raid card fails and you will probably get better smart reporting.
